SpiceJet Staff’s ‘Cheap Airline’ Remark Triggers Heated Clash at Delhi Airport

A heated clash erupted at Delhi airport on October 25 after SpiceJet staff reportedly told delayed passengers they had chosen a cheap airline. A viral video shows a woman demanding respect as the crowd grows louder.

A remark by SpiceJet ground staff about passengers choosing the airline because of its low fares triggered a heated confrontation at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on October 25, with a video of the incident drawing attention to passenger complaints about delays and service standards.

The argument broke out after ground staff reportedly told delayed passengers that they had chosen SpiceJet because it was a cheap airline. The remark angered passengers, leading to a heated exchange that was captured on video.

During the confrontation, a woman challenged the staff member over the comment, questioning the employee’s low salary while asserting her own right to be treated with respect. The exchange intensified as more passengers joined the argument, and the crowd grew louder, with people chanting at the airport.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officers were seen nearby as the confrontation unfolded. The video showed the tense atmosphere surrounding the exchange between the passengers and the airline’s ground staff.

The incident has brought renewed attention to passenger complaints about SpiceJet delays and service quality. Online reactions criticised the staff member’s reported remark as unprofessional, while some responses also pointed to the pressures associated with budget air travel in India’s aviation sector.

SpiceJet said it was unaware of the incident. The airline’s response came amid online discussion of the confrontation and the treatment of passengers during flight delays.

The episode highlights the tensions that can arise between airline staff and passengers when delays lead to frustration and disputes over service. The video has also focused attention on the importance of professional communication and respectful treatment at airports, particularly during disruptions.a
